Viral Advertisement Ideas

As our film is about the dangers of talking to an unknown figure on facebook and other social networking sites I think a good viral campaign would be setting up a fake news channel on facebook, youtube, twitter and all other available social sites. We could make a fake news report of a tall male, asking if anyone had seen him as he is a wanted criminal. Sketched drawings of Ethan's face will be put all over the internet.

Title sequence research

click here to go to the social network title sequence

The title sequence is almost dream like, it sticks to the main theme of the film, which is of course technology and Facebook.

Imagery
The title sequence uses the main plot to the film. It gives you a sense what the film is about straight away. The images blend in and almost merge into one to form a new profile. It has a modern, technological twist which is unusual to see. It uses the generic 'Facebook' page to give all credits and creates profiles for them, or displays them as friends or shows how one of the actors has commented on an others status, it ties in all of them in a seamless way whilst still staying true to its main purpose.

Music
The music used is a delicate, dream like and atherial. This is used i think as it shows that idea of setting up the 'social network' is a dream and it doesn't seem real when he does achieve it. The sound almost takes you on a journey which again may be used to insinuate that the film will take you on a jorney and not just any journey but mark Zuckbergs journey.

What id like to take as inspiration
What i liked from the sequence is that it stays true to the meaning behind the film. I like the use of profiles and likes and comments to show the titles and roles, i particularly liked the part where it went straight into the film via a video which had been posted on to the social network its self, however i think this could be a little difficult to achieve.

Conventional camera shots/movements of thrillers

Conventional camera shots/movements of thriller films in this power-point.

Continuity Editing

What is continuity editing?

It is a type of editing that is the most popular editing style to use as it maintains a continuous and clear narrative action by following a set of rules.
The key rules to this type of editing are:
Establishing - this is an important element to the film as it gives the scene a setting allowing the audience to see where the scene is beginning.
Shot reverse shot - it allows us to see two different views in the same scene to give variety.

180 degree rule - Is where you keep the camera on one side of an imaginary line called the axis for every shot in the scene. The first character will always be frames to the right of the second character, who is then always framed left of the first. Crossing the camera over the axis is called jumping the line or crossing the line.
30 degree rule -
Crosscutting -
Match on action -
Eye-line match -
Re-establishing shot -
Sticking to these rules means the narrative has structure and the shot sequences flow seamlessly into each other making it easier to watch the film.

Low Profile - Film Poster

The image I chose to use was one with the main character under a dark bridge so it gives the film a mysterious feel. I chose to put the title Low Profile in a dark maroon colour against a light background so that it stands out. The coming soon is in a dark red to give a hint of colour which signifies danger.

In full length films made by mainstream company's the end credits include all of the above and sometimes more as the work that goes into making a film on a large scale involves the use of a lot of people. As our film is a short 5 minute film made by ourselves the end credits need to be shorter as the use of other peoples help like production designer is not needed as we were able to do everything our selves between the 3 of us. So in our end credits we will include, director, Writer, Cast, Produced by, Editing and costume design.

Progress Report

When we began filming we came across some problems. We intended to use my dad but he wasn't able to make the shooting times so we had to choose someone else to become the 'parent' we decided to use Ellie so we had to change some of the script. We have now finished most of our filming and have now begun editing. In the next few weeks we will shoot our last scene and complete editing. We had to shoot all of our scenes with Megan before 12/12/13 as she was dyeing her hair dark, once we had finished these scenes we noticed some of our focusing was wrong so we had to be selective of the shots we were able to use.
